On 21 June 2025, as part of the Bristol Refugee Festival programme, Sudafest brought together artists, families, and audiences for a vibrant celebration of Sudanese culture, resilience, and community.
The festival featured a rich programme of performances, workshops, and activities, including:
Sudan Tribal Dance Showcase by Nawaris Performing Arts
Gnawa Music Workshop and Performance with Mohamed Errebbaa, exploring the connections between Sudan and Moroccan Gnawa traditions
Rap performance by Akram
Zanig Music performance with Jabra
Live DJ sets by DJ YOUSIF, featuring sounds from Sudan and the African diaspora
Spoken word by Mutassim Morgan and youth poetry performance
Daluka and Aghani Albanat with Hafsa, celebrating traditional women’s songs and rhythms
Jewellery making workshop with Shadia Albanna
Children’s activities
Circus arts and movement workshop with The Hoola Hoop Lady
Craft workshops by Sherien Elsheikh and Isra Elhag
African drumming workshop by Afidance
A vibrant market of crafts and merchandise

This year’s Sudafest was a powerful reminder that culture is resistance and connection is strength. Through art, music, and shared celebration, the event highlighted the resilience and creativity of the Sudanese diaspora in the UK while building bridges with the wider Bristol community.
